Kupwara, Jun 13 (KNO): Two infiltrating militants were killed on Tuesday in an encounter with joint teams of security forces at Doganar area in Machil sector in Kupwara district, officials said. Defence Spokesman of Srinagar based Chinar Corps in a statement issued to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that "On specific intelligence inputs received of likely infiltration from Machil Sector from JKP and other intelligence agencies including Military Intelligence a Joint Operation by Indian Army and JKP was planned in area Doga Nar on night 12/13 June where multiple ambushes were laid along the likely routes of infiltration." "On 13 June at around 1300 hours ambush teams observed two heavily armed terrorists crossing the LOC, " the statement read. "They were engaged by ambush teams. Fire fight ensued resulting in elimination of both infiltrating terrorists." "Identity of the terrorists and their tanzeem affiliation is being ascertained," the defence spokesperson said adding that "Two AK Series Rifles, Four Hand Grenades and other War like store were recovered." This successful intelligence based operation, the spokesperson said is yet another example of close synergy between Indian Army, JKP and all agencies. "The security forces stand steadfast to defeat the nefarious designs of inimical elements supported by our adversary to disrupt peace and harmony in Kashmir." It maybe recalled that earlier on 03 May two militants were killed in Machil sector in a joint operation by Army and SOG Kupwara. Official then said that alert troops in ambushes braved continuous bad weather marked by incessant rainfall, poor visibility and significant drop in temperature for two consecutive nights—(KNO)
